Celestial Marriage: Elder Russell M. Nelsen and Elder Paul H. Dahl
The proclamation on the family helps us realize that celestial marriage brings greater possibilities for happiness than does any other relationship.
First we must realize that each marriage starts with two built in handicaps. It involves two imperfect people. We need to frequently discuss our goals on our relationship, temple attendance, FHE, family prayers,....and make sure we're "walking in the same direction".
Second: We can write down our spouses spiritual gifts and write down our weakness. Where one is strong, the other is weak and visa versa. We compliment each other. Press. Hinckley stated: "Respect each others' differences".
Third: We need to pull together.
Fourth: We can let go of the petty differences.
We need to Act as if ... and we will become and Treat him as if... and he will become. We need to treat our husbands as if he were a Valiant Son of God.
How to have a more celestial relationship:
1. Strengthen our relationship with our Father in Heaven.
2. Spend time alone together.
3. Listen to each other.
4. Develop a friendship with our spouse .
5 . Do something special for our spouse everyday
6. Share with our spouse those things in our marriage that heave been most meaningful to us.
7. Take a second honeymoon, even if it is for only a day. Just be together. No phone. No family. No acquaintances.
8. Share a new experience together.
